Why this tour

Wild nature, adventure and history — in one unforgettable trip

This tour is one of the most beautiful ways to discover the hidden treasures of the Albanian Riviera. Weaving together Pirates Cave, Gjipe and Doves Cave, it combines wild nature, adventure and history in a single experience. You’ll visit places untouched by mass tourism, where the water is crystal clear and the landscapes take your breath away — caves wrapped in mystery and legends of pirates and the coast’s ancient past.

And this isn’t just a tour — it’s an active experience. Explore the caves up close, swim in crystal water, snorkel, and stretch out on hidden beaches reachable only from the sea. It’s also perfect for spectacular photos and videos: the deep blues, the rock formations and the natural light create scenes made for memories — and for your feed.

If you want to escape the crowds and experience a more authentic side of Albania, this is the trip. Perfect for adventurers, couples and groups of friends — and easygoing enough for everyone. Nobody gets bored on this one; we promise.

The itinerary

Five stops, five stories

We approach each site by speedboat for a close-up panoramic visit and photos — then the group picks Gjipe Beach or Doves Cave for the long swimming and beach stop.

Teodor's Bay

Theodor’s Bay lies between Dhërmi Beach and Pirates Cave. Nature has arranged giant boulders all around it, giving the little bay an almost mystical shade. It’s a place of quiet magic — the deep blue of the sea, white pebbles glowing in the sunlight — the kind of spot that calms you and makes you want to explore further. No wonder it remains a favorite of local and foreign visitors alike.

Pirates Cave

Approaching Pirates Cave feels like traveling back in time. Its jagged walls, pressed into a narrow space, spark the imagination about what the sea pirates once hid here — pirates who sheltered in this cave to defend themselves from rivals raiding the Albanian coast. It sits on a sheer, broken rocky shore that drops straight into the sea, right beside St. Theodor’s Monastery — a place where geography and history enrich one another.

The Monastery Caves

A complex of sea caves near Theodor’s Bay and Pirates Cave, known for their striking rock formations and the way light plays across the water. The caves hold a mysterious atmosphere and are perfect for exploring up close — with deep, crystal-clear water all around.

Gjipe Beach

Steep cliff walls, clear transparent blue — and a small beach connecting them. This remarkable place is a treasure for anyone who loves the sea and unspoiled nature, tucked between Vuno and Ilias, two small villages of southern Albania, not far from Dhërmi. The name “Gjipe” is said to come from the joining of two words: “Gjiri i Perëndisë” — God’s Bay.

Pigeons Cave

One of the most special natural wonders of southern Albania. Set right beside Gjipe on the edge of the Ionian Sea, the cave draws visitors seeking both adventure and quiet. Wild landscapes, spectacular views, and a special, almost mystical atmosphere where natural beauty meets history — an experience that stays with every visitor.

How it works

Seen the way the pirates saw it from the water

Close-up boat visits

We bring the speedboat right up to Theodor’s Bay, Pirates Cave, the Monastery Caves and one of Gjipe or Doves Cave — short panoramic stops at each, perfect for photos. The coastline here is sheer, broken rock with no safe access on foot; that’s exactly why it has stayed untouched, and why the water is the best (and only safe) way in.

You choose your beach

The group picks where to drop anchor for the long stop — Gjipe Beach or Doves Cave — and the other is visited from the water. Swim, snorkel, relax on the beach and make a day of it.

Included

  • Professional captain & crew
  • Fuel & third-party insurance

  • Your camera — you’ll need it

Itineraries adapt to sea conditions. Exact departure times and prices are confirmed when booking.

We bring the boat right up to the caves and bays for close viewing and photos. The terrain around them is steep, broken rock, so landing isn’t possible — the water is the safest and best vantage point, and our speedboats get closer than any big tour boat can.

Yes — the group picks Gjipe Beach or Doves Cave for the long swimming and beach stop. The other one is visited panoramically from the boat.

The tour is easygoing and family-friendly. Let us know ages and swimming levels when booking so we prepare the boat and pace accordingly.

Safety comes first — it’s the foundation of everything we do. If sea conditions aren’t right, we’ll contact you to move your booking to another day.

Want to go further down the coast?

The coastline beyond Gjipe toward Himarë is available as an extension or as a fully private tour — your boat, your route, your pace.
